Guys,
Simple question, I think, and possibly a stupid one, but one I'd like to get your opinions on none the less.
The ache you get in your muscles the day after working out or a couple of days after - is that a sign of "ripping" (or whatever you want to call it - but you get what I mean) the muscle, growth and/or a good workout?
I recently changed my arm routine to give them a shock as I'd been on the same routine for sometime. 3 days after and I'm not feeling the ache which I did with the old routine. During my workout and directly after my arms felt really pumped - just like with the old routine. Does this basically mean that the new workout isn't as good or am I being naive? |

Apparently, the term I should be using is "Delayed onset muscle soreness".
Good article here: http://www.ironmagazine.com/article118.html
Looks like I either didn't work hard enough or the new routine is poor!

Ahh, nothing like a good batch of DOMS to make you walk like you're 90. I'd say if you aren't at least a little sore after then it wasn't hard enough.

Aye, thats what I suspected.
Looks like its back to the old routine or the drawing board for the arms!
Do you guys have any opinions on the sample workouts from Dave Drapers website? http://www.davedraper.com/workouts-more.html

While i love being sore after a good workout, ask anybody on here and they will tell you that soreness does not = muscle growth.
you can be totally fine a day or two after and still be getting good results. Many times now my biceps do not get sore after a workout, however they have grown. It takes alot, and i do mean alot , almost a full workout alone for my bi's to get them sore anymore.

rage is right, DOMS doesnt mean muscle growth, training hard + diet = growth... you know you are traing well by your results, whether it be weight gain or strength gain... dont assess your routine by how sore you are thats just sillyness.
