I remember reading an article several years ago in MM2K (when it was still a decent mag) in which Dan Duchaine experimented with using pseudoephedrine in place of regular ephedrine, and it DID NOT cause the increase in body temperature as plain ole' ephedrine hcl.

pseudoephedrine does has a minimal effect on increasing thermogenesis. however, it is also a MAO type B inhibitor and thus could further potentiate ephedrine and caffeine. In other words, you could add it to an ECA stack to further increase the effects of ephedrine and caffeine. Considering that pseudoephedrine is about 10% of the cost of ephedrine, this might be a good use for it from a savings standpoint.
Enjoy it while you can though, because pseudoephedrine will be gone from the market completely within a year outside of cough syrups containing guaifenesin and dextromethorphan. Most states have already pulled it from the shelves and replaced it with phenylephrine. phenylephrine is also an MAOI type B, but I am not sure if would be cost effective or have any of the mild stimulating effects of pseudoephedrine.
A recent study on runners found that giving the runners pseudoephedrine shaved several seconds off their time in the mile. These findings will probably result in pseudoephedrine going back on the IOC banned substances list.

ephedrine HCL and Ephedrine Sulfate are almost the same thing, but it takes just a slight bit more sulfate to do the same thing as the hcl. sulfuric acid is over three times the molecular weight of anhydrous HCL acid, but it binds to 2 ephedrine base molecules instead of 1 like the hcl. I think it works out to approximately 30mg of sulfate = 25mg of the hcl salt.
