I have to shave my "bikini line" per say because i am really hairy and don't like the look of hair going from foot to stomach. My problem is i get really bad razor burn (look at attached picture). What do you girls do about razor burn or those red mark things?
Right now ive used desitin (baby rash thing) but my gf gets mad when i use it because it smells (also its a pain to go wash off before having sex) and baby oil (but this doesn't work). So at the moment im using the Veet finishing cream that comes with the hair removal set. |

Hey there...I'm not sure if this product works or not since I just picked it up in the store today but Noxema has a new product out called "Noxema Bikini". It is in a blue medium sized tube (1.25 oz.). Says it relieves pain and fights razor bumps as well as helps minimize hair regrowth. And it doesn't seem to smell to bad either. I picked it up at Wal-Mart and it was with all the other hair removal products.
I'm still looking for a good product for this problem as well as looking for a hair removal product that doesn't burn a womans sensitive areas. Good luck!

What are you shaving with? A buck knife? Get some exfoiliant. It takes off the dead and dry skin and makes it easier for the hairs to resurface. Basically what's happening is that you're cutting the hair short and becaue your skin is tough instead of it popping back out through it's follicle "hole", it's curling and stuck underneath. Resulting in all those bumps and "stuff". Not exactly proper textbook terminology but you get my drift. Get a good body scrub and start there. You should begin to see an improvement within a week or so.

What Ducky said is right. If you're prone to ingrown hairs try shaving with the grain instead of against, this way the hairs won't be cut so short that they get stuck under the skin.
Also, a stripper once told me that she uses antipersperant to prevent rashes in that area. She said it's a well known trade secret.
And I know this goes against what eveyone says, but I find if I shave that area with a new razor blade I will get little cuts and irritation. When I use a blade that's been used a few times, the problem does not occur. I shave daily so this week I got out a new blade and asked hubby to use it on his chest to wear it down a bit before I used it. LOL
Also, shaving with baby oil instead of gell or cream gives your skin really good protection keeping it slippery for the blade to slide over easilly.
