What is the best way to get rid of the water right before a show. I know i shouldnt experiment right before a show but i cant go in with the water either. My trainer and a few other people (guys) have thier advice but i just want more. I heard that there are estrogen blockers but that they can effect ever having kids again? i dont want to do anything that would mess with something like that. Any suggestions or info. on that?

If youre planning on cometing and you want to drop your water, Ill tell you what Ive done that has worked for me in the past:

My shows have always been on Sat, so Friday at around 3pm I will take a diuretic and stop drinking water (this will vary depending how much water your body holds usually). My trainer lets me sip with my meals at 6pm and 9pm, and after this I will start to fat/carb load (does this make sense to you? do you understand why carb loading is done?). Depending on how I look after loading my trainer might make me take another diuretic before bed. When I wake up on Sat morning I will be dry(er) but flat, so again I carb/fat load and will continue to do this until I step on stage. At this point my consumption of liquid has stopped until the night show is finished (my last sip of water would be on Friday night when I carb load).

Taking an anti-estrogen can help with water retention, but its not something you take right before your show. Depending on what you take, the amount of time for it to 'kick in' will vary- if you take a drug like Nolvadex that blocks your estrogen receptors (so that your body is still producing estrogen, but it cannot be used because the receptors are blocked) you shouldnt have any issues after you come off (I didnt- but I dont want babies so that was never a concern of mine). However, a drug like arimidex will prevent your body from producing estrogen at all, and this might pose a problem down the road (again, Im no expert).

Thanks for the reply, im slowly learning. This is my first show so im learning as i go, understand some and dont understand other things. As far as carb loading, im still a little confused. My trainer said he would rather not see me take an estrogen blocker if i ever want any more kids, i have two already and am not sure so id rather be safe. Im taking Clen right now. My body fat is pretty low, im still trying not to drop to much, i have a really high metabolism and when i start doing cardio, it shows. So i dont know if im dropping from the Clen or from doing cardio 4 days a week now. Before that, i was hardly doing it. I am holding my muscle though, my weight has also stayed about the same, within a pound or two. Im 5"4" and weight right about 124. I am now a little less then 3 weeks away from my show and my trainer says to wait and see where im at each week and then we will decide what i need to do. He says im really only holding water right now because i always seem to maintain a low body fat. Any extra advice on anything would be nice, carb loading or what you do in the last few weeks and last week would all be very helpful. Im assuming my diet will have to change again. Right now im at about 160-200 gram protein and around 80-100 carbs. I did do small cheat meals here and there but am quitting that now. Not sure what other information to leave, im am currently taking winny also and have been for awhile now, its been about 11 weeks. Im assuming to getting off that soon would be smart also.

GS is right on...

the question Rebecca is how much water are you consuming NOW?? You can't cut water if you are not drinking enough!!! Pre-contest i get up to 2 gallons a day in order to cut water the last day out!

Also, salt is something you may want to start manipulating...

Your carb loading should be dextrose based... some use pie filling, mentos, yams etc...

diruetics work.. dandelion root is natural and OTC and works well.. but again, you need to have high water to cut it out and dry out for the day of the show...

also, a glass of red wine brings out my vascularity the day of the show...

discuss options with your trainer, you two know your body best.

oh and the biggest bit of advice and the hardest to follow

DON'T STRESS!!!!! you will go flat, hold water, raise cortosol, you name it, stress does it... let your trainer stress for you that is why you hired him/her right?!? to take the guess work out and allow you the ability to just focus and relax...

Try Animal Cuts by Animal Pak. It has a natural diuretic and antioxidants for liver and kidney function and will assist in fat burning and increase your vascularity. Its a 3 week cycle with one week off. It works great, I have done three cycles and lost 115lbs of fat. The more you consume water the more it releases. The fat loss is another story.
