 So confused

Okay....I'm so confused as to what to do as far as my workout routine. I know this is obviosuly more a body building site so most people would say do the weight training..but I'm still hesitant. I kinda go through phases with working out and dieting. I have aten clean and just did cardio and pilates and gone down in sizes rather quickily....I have also done cardio with a lot of weight training and it honestly took me longer to go down in size with the weight training...why would that be? I'm not sure which to do?

The reason why you didn't drop in weight and size when you lifted was because you were maintaining or building some muscle. When you just do cardio and diet, a lot of the weight and size lost is not necessarily from the fat but the muscle you burned off. Burning muscle off means a slower metabolism which makes it hard to maintain a lean frame. Usually what happens is people go back to eating like they were and end up putting the weight on and then some because they lost the muscle. That is why I always recommend doing some heavy weight training along with the cardio so that you maintain or build some muscle and just mostly loose fat. It makes keeping your gains a lot easier.

Thanks! well I alwasy do cardio....I was gonna start out with light reps just because its been awhile and I don't want to get bigger...and then after maybe 6 weeks or so do more intense training....

listen to me: unless you are taking drugs or just have freakish genetics, you WILL NOT get much bigger by lifting. adding lean muscle along with cardio to beurn fat will actually make your muscles tighter, leaner and more dense. yes, you may get heavier, but you will NOT add a siginificant amount of size. try a program that enables you to perform 8-10 reps (the last 2 should be very tough) and keep up the cardio and i promise you will like what you see. let us know what you decide

Well I guess I'm going to give it a go and do the weights. I'm starting next week so we'll see how it goes! Do you think I can expect to see major changes in 2 months If I do exactly what I am supposed to?
