 routine and diet

My partner is 28 5 2" tall and weighs 125lb (8 stone 13lb) and a english size 10. she wants to start training at the gym and start a diet to get into better shape for a holiday we're going on at the end of the year. Not having a clue about training or diet from a womans perspective, any info towards a suitable diet and training routine for her would be muchly apprechiated.

Well.... what does her diet look like now? What is her activity level? There is no "catch all" diet. It's very individual.

diet at the minute is terrible, eats what she can, when she can. this is very much starting from scratch, activity level is quite high, works all day and runs around after the 2 kids at night, this is going to hopefully be the start of a new way of life for her, weve spoken about her starting training and she is now ready and willing to take the plunge.

the first and easiest way to see dramatic results is to clean up her diet. start her on small, frequent meals with good clean sources of protein and complex carbs. stress to her that healthy eating must become a priority in order for her training to be as effective as possible. if she is totallt new to the gym, investing in a personal trainer for a few sessions might not be a bad idea, just to get her started and comfortable with a routine...

for her size after researching we were looking at starting on 1600 cal a day, how would this be split up I was thinking 124g pro/187.5g carbs/ 44g fat or 30/45/25?
