Try this instead:
Put however many eggs you wish to boil in a pot with
cold water.
DO NOT crowd the pot. Turn the heat to high; bring to a boil. As soon as you reach a rapid boil, put the lid on and remove from heat. Let stand 15 minutes, no more. When the 15 min is up, put the eggs into some cold water (ice bath) until cool. It helps to peel them right away, makes it easier.
This method produces consistently good hard boiled eggs. Flaky delicious yolks, never green.
