from the outside in, Ephedra smells strongly like an herb, Ephedrine smells like a chemical.
Ephedrine Hcl is a synthetic compound & 110% the real thing.
Ephedra must be assayed for % active ephedrine potency.
Theorically that's the same, but i'd go for ephedrine hcl & carefully see labels.

you are in canada, there are quite a few companies selling pure ephedrine hcl there. not only that, they are the versatile 8mg tabs.

also you can order pure ephedrine from DNE

vasopro is OK, but guafenesin increase E excretion and causes further dehydration.

I take the Vaspopro stuff right now, and the guafensin seems to cause nausea at times.

I'd go with the Ephedrine HCL over the ephedra as well.
