Solution vs. Suspension (For Oral Administration)

Solution vs. Suspension (For Oral Administration)

Arguably the most asked about and misunderstood concept in the chem forum here is the mixture of chemicals and carrier liquids. More directly put, the difference between a solution and a suspension remains a cloudy mess. My hope is this mini-article will help clear it all up - pun intended.

Definitions
Solution: a homogeneous mixture composed of one or more substances, known as solutes, dissolved in another substance, known as a solvent.
Suspension: a colloidal dispersion (mixture) in which a finely-divided solids are combined with another species (in our case a carrier liquid) in such a manner that the solids do not rapidly settle.

General Concepts
If you mix koolade in water you will get a solution. The koolade (solute) disolves in the water (solvent) resulting in a solution.
If you mix flour in water you will get a suspension. The flour particles are "suspended" in the water. If shaken, the flour suspends evenly in all directions and begins to settle in the direction of gravity (down, duh). The rate at which it settles depends on the grain size and shape of the solid, and the viscosity of the fluid.

Suspensions (The easiest route to take)
Olive oil provides a nice thick carrier liquid to suspend many chemicals in. It will however become problematic to accurately dose anything under 20mg/ml. This is only a guideline and is conservative, but serves as a good rule of thumb.
Vodka provides a decent carrier for your suspension when the powder is very fine (not crystalline).

For any suspension it is important to remember NOT to apply heat to the mixture. It is NOT necessary.

Solutions (The most accurate and end-user friendly)
Ethanol (vodka / grain alcohol) is the go-to choice for solutions, and in most cases the higher the proof, the better. I advise against PEG for oral administration and have backed my view point at length.

Many solutions require heat to coax the chemical to either dissolve into the solvent, or to actually melt into the solvent. If the end result is crystal clear, you have a solution. If the concentration you chose was too high, the solution will crash upon cooling down to room temperature. It may only require intermittent reheatings if the percipitation is slow (days). It may however prove to be too problematic to use (crystals grow within hours). The goal is to balance the concentration with the nature of the chemical behavior and interaction with the solvent.

The more you play with this, the better. This is a brief summary of a broad amount of material - condensed and packed into a bite sized thread.

Guidelines
Best made into a suspension:
-Cialis (Vodka)
-Winny (EVOO)
-Var (EVOO)
-Exemestane (Vodka)

Easy solutions:
-Nolva (Vodka @ 20-30mg/ml)
-Clomid (Higher proof vodka @ 50mg/ml)
-Adex (Vodka)
-Dbol (High proof ethanol / everclear)

Must be in solution (for dosing accuracy, may be conservative):
-Clen
-T3
-Letro
-Adex

Feel free to ask questions, post opinions or add to the list!

nope, but ordered some. so i dont even really know what the powder looks like. i guess if it's fine ill throw it in vodka

What concentration you goin for.

Manly choice btw.

Dougo,

Thanks for this mini article. I am about to make my first attempt at Tren A. I was not sure about suspensions and solutions but thought I had a pretty good concept of it. This reinforced it.

Thanks.
