 thyroid downregulation from dieting


I am quite certain my thyroid is slowing down from dieting. i've lost about 8" on my waist and over 40 lbs but now the weight loss is stopping. I suspect hypothyroidism because my average body temp has dropped alot. Its normally 99.0, now its usually 98.1. I just took it an hour ago and it was 96.6 (i have no idea why that was).

I talked to some people over the internet and im adding fish oils and taurine supplements, and im eating more calories on refeed days. But i am thinking of also trying t3 if these other methods don't work to bump up my thyroid. However i want the lowest dose possible, i dont want to shut down my thyroid entirely and i dont want a major metabolic boost i just want my t3 levels to near what they normally are. I have heard 12.5 mcg/day is the best dose for this im thinking of that, then when i want to quit cutting to 12.5 mcg every 36 hours for a week, then cutting to 12.5 mcg every 2 days for a week, then quitting entirely. dont know if this cycle down will prevent a rebound but it should.

Also, does anyone know if this thyroid deficiency will be a lifetime problem? if i am trying to lose this weight and keep it off, will my thyroid be downregulated for as long as i try to keep the weight from coming back or will my body give up and give me my t3 back.
