What daily dosage should I take of Flush Free Niacin?
My LDL is currently 122, I need to get it down under 100, within 3 weeks or alteast get as close to it as possible.
I plan on taking Reg yeast Rice (1200mg ED) and the Flush Free Niacin (What dosage though?, I am 180lbs)
I also have some 20mg Zocor cholesterol medicine that I can get my hands on but I am worried about it causing muscle damage/loss. If I only take it for a week or two. What do you guys think the chances of me loosing muscle are?
So basically there are TWO questions I have...
-Flush Free Niacin Dosage? -Taking Zocor for only ~2 weeks worth it, what damages could occur?
thanks! |

Dose is 500 mg 3x / day
as for 122 - that is not high at all and no need for zocor

Do some people take No-Flush Niacin to reduce "redness" in the face, neck, etc?? Or just a myth?

Niacin is known for bringing blood to the surface and causing redness... no-flush is supposed to eliminate this.

So then, if one wanted to reduce blood rushing to the face, they'd simply avoid niacin, with or without no-flush?

no, every person reacts different to gear/vitamins/herbs etc... Niacin is B3 needed for proper circulation and healthy skin. It also assists in the metabolism of carbs/fats/proteins. People with high cholesterol need higher does and because of Niacin function a side effect is this redness which the flush-free is supposed to prevent. Most people have success with no sides using the flush-free of Niacin BUT in some cases few still have redness.
Try it... It does work. If the redness occurs to a point where you would prefer not to take it then stop.
However, I would take a 100 complex 3 times a day. B-Vitamins work best together and the amounts that Dirk has recommended go against what I've read stating you should not exceed 300mgs daily. Nor should you take this much if you have existing liver problems or High Blood Pressure.
You could try Increasing you fiber, taking garlic, lecithin and Vitamin C (3000-8000mg divided) NOW makes a product Super Odorless Garlic, plus Cayenne and Hawthorne. I take this year round at 2 a day and double that while on gear.
