  nerve pain!

 nerve pain!

Hey all,

Over the last few months, I've been getting nerve pain in my forearm (on the outer edge, just under the bone close to the elbow). Initially I would only get it a little while working out, but now it pops up randomly while doing stuff as light as pushing myself out of my desk chair. Last week, I could only do two of six of my exercises, and dips were impossible.

My doc says about all I can do is go to physiotherapy or rest, so this week I'm just resting and hoping for a miracle. Any ideas? A couple guys on other boards suggested I just work through it til it goes away, but that's not happening without changing my routine. Right now I am thinking my best bet is just to do my core exercises and hope that I grow past it, or to take a week off every couple of weeks.

Thanks!

I have the same thing happening right now. Only the nerve pain goes along the outside underneath of my left hand.

Any time I bring my left arm too close to my body and I am pressing something heavy it occurs. I am pretty sure it is a nerve that is running underneath my armpit that leads to the sensation.

So far I just train through it.

I hit the gym again this week after taking last week off. Did arms today and back/shoulders yesterday. No significant flare-ups yesterday (though I didn't expect any). Today I knew I'd not be able to finish my routine if I stayed at the same level, so I dropped the weight a little on most of my stuff and got through it with manageable pain.

I'm going to hold the weight for the next month, then resume progress and see what happens. I think I just progressed faster (using Needsize's 5x5) than my forearms were prepared to handle.
