  Bridging with HGH: An Idea

 Bridging with HGH: An Idea

Alright, I'll just start off with a disclaimer: someone might have already thought of this so I'll give props if that's the case.

We all know how much being "off" sucks. Most people attempt to come up with a plan to keep the majority of their gains (PCT, supplements, IGF1, Insulin, HGH etc) and many here go the HGH route. I've always seen the traditional 3-5i.u./day 5-6 days/week approach, however I'm wondering if there's a better way.

Some of you might know Almost Pro over at anabolex. He has experiemented with use high infrequent doses of HGH to elict more of an anabolic response instead of the low dose more frequent approach. He picked 2 days/week to take 10i.u. post training session. If memory serves he was very happy with this approach and I'm sure there are others who have tried this method.

So how does this fit into bridging with HGH between cycles? Here's how: I always decrease my training frequency while "off." Usually it goes from 5-6x/week to 2-4x/week. Now when I train only 2x/week, I do a whole body routine focusing solely on compound movements (bench, squat, deadlift, military press, etc) What if I simply did the 10i.u. method after both of those workouts each week? Instead of getting the HGH benefit 2x/week with a split workout schedule, I would get it 2x for my WHOLE body. This would allow a maximum amount of anabolism to take place EVERY workout during my "off" time period.

I'm thinking of giving this a shot over the winter months. I'll keep everyone updated here...feel free to comment, punch holes in my reasoning, etc.

Might actually work, and work well. Time will tell.

Here's a study that shows some evidence that this method might have some exciting possibilities:

J Clin Endocrinol Metab. 2003 Nov;88(11):5490-6.

Myostatin is a skeletal muscle target of growth hormone anabolic action.Liu W, Thomas SG, Asa SL, Gonzalez-Cadavid N, Bhasin S, Ezzat S.
Department of Medicine, Mount Sinai Hospital and University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Myostatin is a cytokine that has recently been shown to selectively and potently inhibit myogenesis. To investigate the mechanisms of anabolic actions of GH on skeletal muscle growth, we examined the in vitro and in vivo effects of GH on myostatin regulation. Twelve GH-deficient hypopituitary adult subjects were treated with recombinant GH (5 micro g/kg.d) in a double-blind, placebo-controlled fashion. Body composition and physical function were assessed and skeletal muscle biopsies from the vastus lateralis performed at 6-monthly intervals during 18 months of treatment. Myostatin mRNA expression was significantly inhibited to 31 +/- 9% (P < 0.001) of control by GH but not by placebo administration (79 +/- 11%) as determined by quantitative real-time PCR normalized for the housekeeping glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase gene. The inhibitory effect of GH on myostatin was sustained after 12 and 18 months of GH treatment. These effects were associated with increases in lean body mass and translated into enhanced aerobic performance as determined by maximal oxygen uptake and ventilation threshold. Parallel in vitro studies of skeletal muscle cells demonstrated significant reduction of myostatin expression by myotubes in response to GH, compared with vehicle treatment. Conversely, GH receptor antagonism resulted in up-regulation of myostatin in myoblasts. Given the potent catabolic actions of myostatin, our data suggest that myostatin represents a potential key target for GH-induced anabolism.

....also, it would be cheaper than 4i.u., 6 days/week which is what alot of people do.

sounds like a master plan.

Lets call it the DocJ Protocal, shall we?
