No, only the active life of the compound is altered.

The rise and fall of your blood levels of the drug and the time it takes to clear your system will be different. However the base drug will remain the same no matter what the ester is.

Essentially nothing but the different fluctuations in the levels of the drug and individual reactions to an ester may cause certain side effects in users. Personal experimentation is the only way to determine how you will react to a drug.
