Im a Leafs fan but they really didnt make any moves in the offseason to improve where they need to: Defense.

They lost Svhela and Wesley and are counting on rookies to fill those voids. And lets be honest, even with Svhela and Wesley, the Leaf 'D' wasnt what you would consider stellar to begin with.

I think the leafs should pick up one or 2 of these guys:
Ken Klee
Bryan Berard
dimitri yushkevich

they would help alot with the problems they are facing on the blue line. The addition of joe nieuwendyk will help out a lot if he stays healthy. I really don't want to count the Leafs out just yet.


On the other hand, you have to be careful with Colorado. Their off season acquisitions are sick! Selanne and Kariya give them 2 more players that can potentially get 80+ points this season. If they can't get a good #1 goalie, they will be in some trouble come playoff time.

Not keeping Wesley was ridiculous. With the money they saved on the increase in the value of the Canadian dollar alone they should have been able to sign him, even with the Svehla thing. If Belfour has even a marginal year they will stink the joint out.

Would any of ya like to see Joseph come back to Toronto. Personally i think Joseph is a good goalie but i didnt think he fit in with detroit. I think the redwings missed Haseck last year. Anyway the leafs and wings are a great rival and much respected by both. I see Joseph going to Boston Bruins cant wait for the season to get going it will be a interesting NHL year guareenteed. I personally have no desire to see Joseph back in TO. I was happy with Belfour last year. I believe Joseph has been on a downward slope for the last 2 years now and I am not confidant that he can better his performance from those last couple years. I just dont see his coming to TO making any sense really. They have Belfour for a bargain contract right now and need whatever money they have available for a defencemen or two.
