no. there isn't a seal between the two containers..liquid can pass around that filter.

use that pump and get some stericups. then it will be sterile.

That pump works fine though... better than medical vacuum pumps IMO. Save a few bucks and get the one without the gauge... it will break eventually anyways! you can pretty much pump it as long as you want and it won't break your bottle top filter so why bother... you can see if your filtering or not... don't need a gauge..

A cheap plastic stericup receiver flask however is only rated for 5 Hg however, I hear. Of course, the best solution to that is don't buy a plastic receiver flask. Instead, buy a nice, glass media bottle.
